This week we just started our new unit on India. Watch for an announcement shortly regarding a trip to Indiatown.

Science World
The grade 6 classes will be visiting Science World in Vancouver this Friday. Because we will be taking the bus, we are limited to the amount of parents who can join us. While some parents will get to ride in separate vehicles, a few lucky ones will get to ride with the teachers on the bus. At Science World we will be taking in an Electricity workshop. Cross Country
It's hard to imagine that one week ago today we thought we might have to build another ark. Today's run at Bear Creek turned out beautifully.

Seaforth Armoury
We would like to extend a huge thanks to the great folks at Veterans Affairs Canada for hosting another successful Living History program at Vancouver's Seaforth Armoury. The grade 6 students learned more of Canada's conflict history with special attention on Vimy Ridge and the stories of soldiers, past and present. Students and parents are encouraged to send a note of thanks to this year's event organizer, Keith Black, for a very smooth running program. We also thank the parents who were able to chaperone the many groups.

Electric Jeopardy
If you have PowerPoint, you may wish to try this neat study tool to help you with some of the electricity concepts. If you don't have PowerPoint, you can download this free viewer to the show. I've also tried--with little success--to create an online study jeopardy of the presentation.

- 1:00pm have lunch and depart for school
Biclycle Helmets
Mr. Fernhout came to speak last Friday about the importance of bicycle helmets. Ask your child about what happened to the two melons which were dropped to simulate a bicycle accident.
Check out this link for more information with respect to bicycle helmet safety.

Histoires en action!
Living History
There is a slight chance of a Remembrance Day field trip for this coming Wednesday, October 24, 2007. If so, we would need parent drivers for this day to spend the day with us in Vancouver. If you would be able to come (again it's depends on if the event organizers can sqeeze us in), we'd love to hear from you. We'll hopefully have a confirmation by Friday.

Internet Safety
Just before the Thanksgiving weekend, our teaching staff had the opportunity to attend a seris of professional development workshops in Lynden, WA. One of the ones I attended was on the culture of the internet and what adults should know about where their kids are spending more and more of their time. Here are some good internet safety resources you may wish to check out. Additionally, you can also check out my online notes from the workshop. Some facts may surprise and even shock you.
