Terry Fox Run

Despite what looked like a very wet day, our school spent some time remembering Terry Fox by running around the Holy Cross track.

Stave Falls: Drivers Needed

We are currently looking for drivers for our Stave Falls field trip on Monday, October 15, 2007. If you could join us on this day, please click here and send along this information in your child's agenda or send your child's teacher an email.

Picture Day

Don't forget this Friday is picture day. For best results, the photographers suggest wearing brightly coloured clothing and to avoid whites if possible. Friday will also host our regular Scribbler test. While it's likely the Terry Fox run could be postponed due to the weather, there is still a possibility it may run.

Organization

In language arts we are currently learning how to put together well-organized paragraphs. It may sometimes be difficult to picture what good organization looks like, but it's not too difficult to imagine poor organization. Check out this great example of poor oral organization.

Derby Reach: a success!

Our annual grade 6 social at Derby Reach was a good success as the weather held beautifully until just as we were leaving. Hiking, hot dogs and good friends were the three God given gifts we had today. We would like to extend a huge thanks to our parent volunteers for hiking, cooking, driving, and caring as they accompanied us.

Just a reminder of our grade 6 field trip Friday. We will be leaving at 10:00am and returning before school lets out at the end of the day. Kids (and parent drivers) should be reminded to bring snacks, drinks, rain gear (hopefully we won't need it) and warm clothing.

Electric Charges Quiz

We're trying something new. You will shortly have an opportunity to try online quizzes based on what we're learning in the class. Your teacher will give you a username and password to login to ClassMarker to take your quiz.

Power House

Our monumental field trip on electricity is fast approaching. On Monday, October 15, 2007 we will travel to the Power House at Stave Falls in Mission and tour a large de-activated hydro electric dam. It's a full day out of the classroom, but it's well worth the visit. Our classes will tour the site in the morning, picnic at nearby Stave Lake and plan to be back before the end of the school day. We're requesting parent drivers who can drive us on that day. The success of this day depends on our volunteers. If you can help out on that day, please let your child's teacher know via email (see right panel on this page) or send a note in your child's planner. We'll leave first thing in the morning.

Today was our first all grade 6 running day on the track. We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather though I'm sure every student would not have minded slightly cooler temperatures.

Hold On . . .

September can be a crazy month, everything seems to start new (school, sports, church stuff . . .). At times, it can feel as though we're spinning out of control! Hold on, dear friends, we are in good hands.

Technology

In the next few weeks. we are hoping that our students will begin to walk down the path of technological proficiency. We've added a new tool to assist our curriculum and to better prepare our students for the future.

Derby Reach

Our annual grade 6 social to Derby Reach is set for Friday, September 21, 2007. We'll be leaving the school at around 10:00am and be returning before the end of the school day. If you would like to come, please let your child's teacher how many students you can bring either by email or by completing this form and returning it to the school. Please also indicate if you would be willing to coordinate the hot dog lunch.
